L’album "Ex|Ist" d’Infestus est un album si profond et authentique qu’il faut se pencher dessus et lâcher prise pouvoir en savourer toute l’essence. Andras, leader de ce one man band, s’est prêté au jeu de l’interview afin d’approfondir le sujet…

1) Le 16 mai 2011 sortait "Ex|Ist", entièrement créé par toi. Une œuvre personnelle, extrêmement profonde. Comment as-tu réagi face aux diverses chroniques qui ont été faites depuis ?

Andras : Toutes les chroniques pour "Ex|Ist" furent excellentes. Cet album a plusieurs fois obtenu le score maximal. J'ai trouvé cela vraiment plaisant d’autant plus lorsqu’on pense à la relation que j’ai avec cet album. Cet album est – considérant combien les chroniques furent bonnes – de loin l'œuvre musicale la plus importante que j'ai jamais écrite. 

2) Depuis que tu es le seul membre d'Infestus et donc en solo dans le monde de la tourmente, ce groupe devient une très exigeante entité en matière de ténèbres. Infestus continuera-t-il donc sur cette voie ?

Andras : Oui, je continuerai à marcher sur le chemin de la solitude. Certains diront que c’est là la frontière de la variété musicale… et ils auront peut-être raison. Mais seulement en le faisant, il est possible pour moi de composer de la musique exactement comme je le veux et comme j’ai besoin qu’elle soit, allant d'une personne, d’un état d’esprit, une part d'art si dense et logique qu'elle peut être capable de créer un trou noir dans l’esprit de l'auditeur lui-même. Ce chemin représente 100% de mon âme, ma tristesse, mon émotion ; il est l’incarnation de mes ténèbres.

3) Y a-t-il un nouvel album en préparation ?

Andras : Oui, il y a un nouvel album à l'horizon. Actuellement, les parties de guitare sont déjà écrites, 50% des paroles sont terminées, aussi. Il est désormais temps de s'occuper de la batterie. Je prévois justement ces enregistrements pour décembre ou janvier si rien ne vient entre temps. Le nouveau matériel que j’utilise est un défi vrai. Personnellement, il me semble que ce soit beaucoup plus difficile en termes de variété concernant chaque instrument. 

4) Tu es également batteur pour le groupe de thrash Systematic Soul Deadening. Que ressens-tu lorsque tu rythmes une musique aussi moderne, loin de toute mélancolie ?

Andras : Actuellement, ce groupe n'existe plus. Nous avions enregistré une démo en 2008, mais nos voies se sont séparées d’avec le chanteur il y a deux ans, alors nous avons décidés de mettre Systematic Soul Deadening en pause. Néanmoins, je joue toujours avec les deux guitaristes, créant constamment de nouveaux titres que nous enregistrerons et publierons sous une nouvelle bannière une fois que nous aurons trouvé le nouveau leader pour notre musique.

En réalité, le Thrash Metal m’a ouvert les portes du Metal quand j'étais enfant. De nos jours je préfère l'interprétation moderne du Thrash. Darkane, par exemple, est un des groupes qui m'impressionne. En parlant comme un batteur, je dirai que ce son/genre offre plus de possibilités de jouer de rapides et techniques partitions ; choses que je n’ai pas exploité sur la démo de Systematic Soul Deadening en 2008, mais après. Je n’intègre pas cela à un certain degré dans la musique d'Infestus afin de ne pas déranger l'atmosphère créée. Finalement, cela peut changer un peu sur l'album du prochain Infestus. Mais vous verrez…

5) Ta personnalité se rapproche du romantisme noir, tu écris avec beaucoup de délicatesse également, as-tu des inspirations chez les grands poètes ?

Andras : Tu as peut-être raison. L'âge de Romantisme est pratiquement le synonyme pour l'individu conscient luttant avec son "âme" torturée dans un monde qui vaut la peine d'être négligé. 

Cependant, je ne suis pas inspiré par des poètes, je ne lis pas non plus de poèmes. Mais s'ils possèdent beaucoup de délicatesse comme tu le dis, alors je fais quelque chose de bon. Il est important pour moi que les mots écrits soient aussi authentiques que ma musique l’est. Cela scelle le lien entre des paroles et la musique, ainsi la chanson, l’album gagne encore plus en profondeur.

6) Andras, merci infiniment pour toutes ces réponses dont tes fans feront bon usage ! A ce propos, aimerais-tu leur dire un petit mot ?

Andras : Préparez-vous ! 2013 verra Infestus de retour sur scène !

In the depths of the soul

The Infestus album "Ex|Ist" is a so profound and authentic that we have to bend above and to let go to be able to savor all its essence. Andras, leader of this one man band, gave us this interview to deepen the subject …

In May 16th, 2011 brought out "Ex|Ist", completely created by you. A personal, extremely profound work. How did you react in front of diverse reviews which were written ?

Andras : For "Ex|Ist" reviewers throughout wrote excellent critics. Several times, this album got maximum score. I found that to be very pleasing, especially when thinking about my relationship towards it. This album is –regardless of how good the reviews were – by far the most important piece of music I have ever written.

Since you are the only member of Infestus and thus solo in the world of the storm, this band becomes a very demanding entity regarding darkness. Will Infestus continue on this way ?

Andras : Yes, I will continue walking the path of solitude. One would say that this confines the borders of musical variety… and one may be right. But only by doing this, it is possible for me to write music exactly the way I want it and need it to be, deriving from one person, one mind, a piece of art so dense and coherent that it gains the ability of creating a black hole in the head of the listener itself. It is to a hundred percent my soul, my pain, my emotion ; it is my darkness incarnate.

Is there a new album in preparation ?

Andras : Yes, there is a new album on the event horizon. Actually, the guitar parts of the songs are already written, 50 percent of the lyrics are finished too. Now it is time to take care of the drums. I schedule the drum recordings for December or January if nothing comes in between. The new material is quite a challenge. To me it seems that it is much more difficult in terms of variety concerning every instrument.

You also are a drummer for the thrash band Systematic Soul Deadening. What do you feel when you give rhythm to a music so modern, far from any melancholy ?

Andras : Actually, this band does not exist anymore. We recorded a demo in 2008, but parted ways with our vocalist 2 years ago and decided to lay Systematic Soul Deadening to rest. Nevertheless, I am still playing with the two guitarists, constantly creating song material that we will record and publish under a new banner once we have found the right front man for our music.

Actually, thrash metal opened to me the doors to metal when I was a child. Nowadays I prefer the modern interpretation of thrash. Darkane, for example, is one of the bands that impresses me. Speaking as a drummer, this sound/genre offers more possibilities of playing fast and technical patterns ; things that I did not exploit on the Systematic Soul Deadening demo in 2008 but afterwards.  These are things that I prevent to a certain degree in the music of Infestus for the sake of not disturbing the atmosphere created. Eventually, this may change a bit on the upcoming Infestus album. But you will see….

Your personality gets closer to the black romanticism, you write with a lot of delicacy also. Are you inspired by the great poets ?

Andras : You may be right. The age of romanticism is practically the synonym for the conscious individual struggling with its tortured “soul” in a world that is worth to be neglected.

However, I am not inspired by poets, nor do I read poems. But if they possess a lot of delicacy as you say, then I am doing something right. It is important for me that the written word is as authentic as my music is. This seals the bond between lyrics and music and the song/album gains even more depth.

Andras : Be prepared ! 2013 will bring Infestus back on stage !
